1. What is the difference between ceramics and porcelain?


The main difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles arises from the different clays and raw materials, firing temperatures and timeframes used. Porcelain tiles are generally made of finer and denser grade clay than ceramic tiles, and are pressed and cooked for longer and at higher temperatures.

2. What are the finishes available?

a) Matt surface: it is matt and not a shiny aspect.
b) Semi-gloss surface: are shiny and reflective.
c) High-gloss surface: are the shiniest finishes of the bunch.
This type can show many imperfections if installed incorrectly.

3. Is ceramic tile a durable material?

Ceramic tile can last for decades and is resistant to abrasion, as well as water and foot traffic. We should avoid steel wool and scouring pads in order not to scratch the tile surface.

4. What is a rectified tile?

Rectified tiles, or sharp edge tiles as they can be known, are ceramic or porcelain tiles that have been manufactured to a very precise tolerance; this means they are cut to near exact measurements with a near perfect straight edge.

5.Can floor tiles be placed on walls?

Almost any floor tile can be also used as a wall tile. Taking into consideration the size and weight of requested tile.

6. Can I place tiles on existing tiles?

Yes, it is definitely possible to fit new tiles on top of an old tiled floor provided that none of the underneath tiles are loose or uneven. However, there are factors to consider before choosing this method for a bathroom or kitchen update.

7. Can I use your tiles outside?

Our collection of outside porcelains is ideal for outdoor areas since they are frost proof and fade resistant.

8. What payment methods do you accept?

Payment can be made either via Debit or Credit Card or link or cash.

9. How do I know how many tiles to buy?

As long as you know the dimensions of the walls or floor that you are tiling, you can work out the amount of tiles that you need. A standard tile calculator will work out the number of tiles or boxes required, taking into account the spacing for grout.

10. When ordering tiles how much (waste %) should I buy?

When you are placing a tiles order, you should buy an additional 10% on what you expect to use. This can account for errors in measurement, breakages and spares for any future issues.

11. Is it possible to install tiles with no grout lines?

ARCOM strongly recommends not installing tiles without grout lines. The edges of the tiles will continuously rub against each other, grout prevents the tiles from making contact while they expand or contract.

12. Does ARCOM provide installation service?

We do not have in-store labor for tiles installation but we can provide the installation of Jacuzzi, Sauna & Shower boxes. However, installation does not include the electrical works.

13. Does ARCOM offer a design service?

We do not offer a design service in our showrooms.

14. Does ARCOM deliver products to doorstep?

ARCOM deliver products to the site but not to doorstep.
